Media Theories- MEDIA THEORIES RESEARCH
TASK 2 - Write a short introduction of what you intend to achieve with this post.
I'm going to use this post and apply it to my brief. This will help me as it will help me achieve the best possible magazine that I can create. This is way i can apply it to my work whilst learning about media theories at the same time.
TASK 3 - Choose 3 different media texts... as long as they link to the brief you've chosen. How is media theory used in these 3 media products and how these make the text appealing to an intended audience?
A media theory that is being used here is Laura Mulvey's female gaze/ male gaze. This makes the text appealing to the male species to read their magazine. Therefore making the magazine more popular.
A media theory that is being used here would be Richard Dyer - "Media institutions with power make stereotypes of those will less power". This shown by the front cover of a psychology magazine being a young teenage boy protesting.
A stereotype that is being used here will be Angela McRobbie – post feminist icon theory suggesting female character are determined, strong, independent and in control but also utilize their sexuality. This is because the woman is being posted a capable woman but still beautiful.
TASK 4 - Write a short conclusion about what you got out of undertaking this research and how you intend to use it in your chosen brief... try to be as detailed as possible.
How I will apply this to my brief is that I will use media theories and use them to make my magazine more interesting. I will try and use the Angela McRobbie theory in my images. Therefore this will cause people to question my magazine.
